Work begins on Cootamundra’s new ambulance station
SHARE
February 18, 2020
A sod turn ceremony was held at the site of the new Cootamundra Ambulance Station to mark the beginning of main works on the station.
This marks a significant milestone in the NSW Government’s commitment to build an ambulance station at Cootamundra as part of the $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program.
Main works on the new station is scheduled for completion in early 2021, followed by a fit-out and operational commissioning phase prior to the commencement of operations from the new facility.
Once completed, the Cootamundra ambulance station will include:
Internal parking for up to four emergency ambulance vehicles
Administration and office areas
Staff amenities
Logistics and storage areas
Relief accommodation
Staff parking
Delivery and loading bay
External wash bay
The station at Cootamundra station will be the first station in the state to feature a Photovoltaic Solar Energy System as part of the build, aiming to improve energy efficiency by generating electricity from an environmental-friendly power source.
The solar system will also be trialled at Sawtell near Coffs Harbour and Iluka.
These stations will act as a pilot and allow NSW Ambulance to gather further data on the efficiencies and return on investment of solar panels.
