Today, it was announced that a Development Application has been lodged with Bathurst Council for the city’s new Ambulance station.

 

To be located at 6 Commonwealth Street the brand new station will replace the 88-year old station on William Street. 

 

The new station will feature a regional education centre, providing spaces for practical training, lectures and meetings for paramedics across the Central West Zone.

 

 It will also co-locate the Central West Zone office with Bathurst Ambulance station, providing modern facilities that will better enable paramedics to deliver high quality out of hospital emergency patient care.  

 

Additionally, the new station will include:

• 10 bay plant area, a wash bay and workshop bay

• administration and office areas

• amenities

• logistics and storage areas

• staff parking.

 

Designed with input from local paramedics, the purpose-built infrastructure will deliver a better working environment for paramedics tailored to the needs of local communities. 

 

Following approval of the Development Application and the land being acquired, tenders will be called for construction of the station.

 

The new station is part of the NSW Government’s $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program, which represents the biggest regional and rural transformation of NSW Ambulance infrastructure in the organisation’s history.

 

The RAIR program currently includes 22 locations across the state that will benefit from an upgraded, rebuilt or entirely new ambulance station including Molong, Ardlethan, Harden and Grenfell.
