SOD TURNED FOR NEW RUTHERFORD AMBULANCE STATION
Today a sod turn marked the official start of construction of the new $3.8 million Rutherford Ambulance Station.
The new station at 63 Aberglassyn Road, Rutherford will feature facilities that are a major improvement on the current ageing station on Gillies Street, enabling local NSW Ambulance paramedics to better meet the mobile emergency medical care needs of Rutherford and surrounding communities well into the future.
Evan Clark, Deputy Director Clinical Operations, NSW Ambulance said the location was chosen to be better able to respond to where patients need us, when they need us.
“The new site will enable local NSW Ambulance paramedics to better meet the current and future demand for emergency medical care in Rutherford and surrounds," Mr Clark said.
Once completed, the Rutherford NSW Ambulance station will include:
- Internal parking for up to seven emergency ambulance vehicles;
- Administration and office areas;
- Amenities;
- Logistics and storage areas;
- Internal wash bay;
- Staff parking and
- An education facility and zone management office area
To date, 23 upgraded, rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations have been announced under the RAIR program, representing the biggest regional and rural transformation of NSW Ambulance infrastructure in the organisation’s history.
